Joined her loving husband in eternity and became one of God's angels on Monday, August 13, 2018 in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Ronald James Francis Cassell. Loving mother of Roger (Pam Warner), Jim (Seena Mahaffey), Heather (Rick Boyarski), Dan (June Bousfield), Kim (Judy Bousfield), Joni Cassell and Stephen (Mary Lynn Bousfield). Cherished grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 20. Dear sister of Joseph (Diane) Gallipeau, the late Grace McAdam (Gallipeau), and sister-in-law of Keith George Cassell (Joan Carroll) and the late Elaine (Cassell) Perry. Predeceased by her parents Art and Sadie Gallipeau. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joan was born in Perth and attended elementary school there until her family moved to Smiths Falls. She started her career in Real Estate in 1967, then moved to British Columbia where she attended the University of British Columbia and also owned and operated Spencer Realty which is still in the family to this day. Joan worked on the board of arbitration for the real estate board of greater Vancouver and took great pride in her work. Joan and Ron enjoyed their winters in Florida and their summers at the cottage. Joan raised 7 kids and her love, charisma, care and strength was the back bone of her family, never wavering and always undying. her devotion to her family and friends is the epitome of what a matriarch stands for and was the lifeline for all members of the household and beyond.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Lannin Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, and if you so choose, the family would appreciate if her memorial room could be brightened with flowers to symbolize the beauty of this world.
