It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Brian Thomson on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 81. Reuniting in heaven with his beloved wife and best friend of 57 years, Susan. Cherished father to Patricia Cote (Chris) and George (Christina). Loving and proud Grandpa to Holly Whitworth (Wil), Crystal Moore (John), Bridget, and Julian. Great-Grandpa to Ayden, Phoenyx, Zane, and Skylar. Predeceased by parents Agnes (Conway) and Charles Thomson. Survived by caring brothers John (Carol) and David (Margaret), and several nieces and nephews.

Brian was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He served proudly in the Medical Corps of the Royal Canadian Navy from 1956 – 1982. He retired from military service with the rank of Captain, and from there went to work with the Ottawa Carleton Regional Ambulance Service until his retirement in 1997. Over the years, Brian had been an avid curler, gardener and nature enthusiast, with his best times enjoyed at the family cottage in Ingolf, Ontario.

Friends may pay their respects at the Lannin Funeral Home, 32 Main Street East, Smiths Falls, Wednesday, December 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service in the chapel will be held Thursday, December 20 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.
