I will always remember our many great visits we shared. You always had a smile and a warm welcoming for me & a cup of tea! I always loved your sense of adventure, how you were never afraid to get on a plane and travel. You will always hold a special place in my heart. You will be missed Granny! ❤

My granny will be greatly missed I loved her more then words can say I have so many memories with her that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Almost all my best memories include her Christmases driving down to smiths falls to spend them with her arguing it was a couch not a chesterfield or a napkin not a serviette lollooking through all her old pictures with her every time we were at her apartment I must have seen the same pictures a thousand times but every time I was at her place even last November when we came came when she was in the hospital we looked at them and laughed and she would tell me a story about each one she was always my ear to talk to whenever I needed to vent I’m not sure what I’m going to do now but I know she’s always with me in my heart and my memories and I was so blessed to have her for so long. I love you granny and I know your in heaven looking down on me I’m not saying goodbye I’m saying see you in awhile I know you’ll be waiting for me one of the best pieces of advices she ever gave me was the hardest thing in life to keep is yourself always keep true to yourself if I remember only one thing which I won’t it will be many many things but the best thing about her was how happy she was all her life and all my life never a frown on her face even in the last few weeeks of her life I’d talk to her on the phone and I’d say how do you feel granny and she’d say I feel better today melissa she always saw the cup as half full and I pray I’m half the woman she was she was a legend to me love you always and forever and you will always be my princess power

When I see this picture of Granny I think "this is beauty, this is happiness." For Granny, family was more important than absolutely anything else; from the love she nurtured her entire life for her own parents and siblings to the extreme pride she had in her great-grandchildren. When I think of my grandmother I think of a woman who could drink more cups of tea than I would have thought possible, a woman who dreamt of London and Paris, a woman who was not at all daunted by taking airplane trips solo in her 90s and of course had just had her driver's licence renewed at the age of 92. She was unstoppable! Her smile, her spirit, her determination and extreme optimism were lessons to us all. I am so thankful to have had her in my life for all these years and that my children will always have wonderful memories of their great-grandmother.

Aunt Nellie loved this poem and told me she would like it read at her funeral. I miss her so much, I wish we lived closer so she could have been a daily part of my children's lives!
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
