Cathy, what a treasure we have lost, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a teacher and a friend. Family was always first and foremost in Cathy's mind. Her love and pride was so evident whenever she spoke of those in her family. As was also the respect and care for all the children who had the privilege of having her for a teacher. She accepted each child for who they were and knew exactly what would benefit them to help them along their road of learning. As a friend the memories we shared when Cathy organized craft activities and game nights brought so much joy and laughter to our lives.
She was truly a treasure to all that had the opportunity ro meet her. As a fellow teacher and friend I can only say that Cathy was one in a million and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have her part of my life.
Sadly missed but always remembered.
Sincere condolences to all!

What sad news.
I believe I’m correct that it was my mother Mary’s retirement from teaching that led to Cathy moving to St. James the Greater, the World’s Greatest Little School, in 1988. I know Mom thought very highly of Cathy. Later, I would encounter Cathy in her role as a very supportive parent and basketball mom to her girls while they attended St. John.
To Kourtney, Ainsley and Kendra... it was such a joy to spend time with you as a teacher and coach. It was clear from knowing all three of you that your family was very close and that you were the products of a home full of love, where of course your Mother was the heart of that home. Losing your Mom must be a blow, and it is unfortunate that as a community we’re physically cut off from one another at this time.
To the whole family, please accept my deepest condolences. You are in my prayers..... Brian Gaffney

Dear Kevin, Kourtney, Ainsley and Kendra,
Please accept my prayers and condolences on the passing of Cathy. Reading the many tributes today will provide you with peace and joy for years to come. I can still remember when Cathy came to St. Francis and told us of her diagnosis and I remember thinking if there is anyone who can beat this terrible disease it was her!! It is unimaginable that we won’t see her beautiful face gracing the doors of St.francis where she was always dropping something amazing off for someone or coming to do an art activity with someone’s class. She was always so confident and was able to handle anything life put in her way. The only way I can reconcile her death is knowing that God must be in need of some amazing organization in heaven so he took Cathy to lead the charge!
Each year at Christmas we hang the ornament she made for me when she was my “Secret KK” at St.James. It has always been special but now more so than ever.
Please know her legacy will live on in the many lives of the children she taught, the staff she worked with and in all of you.
Take good care of each other❤️
Sue Forbes and family.

Cathy was an amazing mother, teacher and person! I can't believe that she's gone. I not only had the pleasure of teaching her three girls but also had the privilege of coaching them as well. Whether it was in the classroom, on the basketball court or offering rides to tournaments, Cathy was always very supportive, kind and thoughtful. She wrote a lovely letter to me 13 years ago thanking me for coaching basketball with her daughter, Kourtney. I have that letter to this day. That's just the kind of person that she was. I take solace in knowing that many of her wonderful qualities will live on in her children. My heart goes out to the entire Kinch family. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Dear Kevin, Kourtney, Ainsley, Kendra and all the Donovan and Kinch families,
I want to offer my sincere condolences to each of you at this time of such tremendous loss. Cathy’s huge personality was a humble one, because it was always directed to “other” not to “self”. “Doing small things with great love” was Cathy’s typical M.O., yet with her boundless energy and enthusiasm, small things usually ended up being GREAT ones. Is there a friend, family member, or student anywhere, that wasn’t on the receiving end of her creativity and generosity? From Wedding Planning, to murder mysteries, from original songs or homemade books to mark special occasions, to perfectly coordinated gifts...(was an outfit even a gift without matching earrings?). There just isn’t anyone who has her humour and sense of fun, dovetailed so perfectly with her devotion and faith. The world has lost a truly beautiful person. I’m heartbroken at the loss of my friend, but I feel so lucky to have walked with her for a while. (Figuratively. I couldn’t NEVER have kept up with her!) I know Cathy will watch over us and intercede for us until we see her again. Save us good seats, Cathy.

Words can't fully express how sorry I was to hear about Cathy's passing. Certainly she truly deserved a long and happy retirement with all of you and her friends. I was very blessed to have known her and many other teachers visiting her classroom as "Officer Jodi." Cathy always had a huge welcoming smile! I always admired how she could be so enthusiastic each and every year of teaching coming up with creative ways of learning. Our Stuff a cruiser campaign for the Food Bank was extra special with Mrs. Kinch and her students singing and doing the annual "turkey trot parade" at St. James school and now St. Francis. That legacy we know will continue on with love from her "teacher family". I hope somehow that all the wonderful, fun memories brings you some comfort during the difficult days ahead.

Dear Kevin, Kourtney, Ainsley, Kendra and all of Cathy's family whom she loved so much, Our hearts are heavy and our prayers are with all of you. I met Cathy for the first time at St. James the Greater School in August 1997 (she was pregnant with Kendra, and Ainsley was being toilet trained - sorry Ains!). Several months went by and I shared in the staff room that Blake and I were going out on a date and Rebecca was going to have her first non-family babysitter. Cathy asked me who would be taking care of Rebecca and I said that I still had to figure that part out. As Cathy ALWAYS DID, she immediately said, "I'd love to help; what time should I be at your house?"
Over the years, Cathy, as she did for so many of us, took several of our family photos which we will always cherish. Ben and Rebecca both had the privilege of having Mrs. Kinch as their grade 1 teacher. One day, Cathy told me that I reminded her of Mary Tyler Moore so every now and then I would throw my hat up in the air and do a twirl for her - whenever I sent notes from my classroom to Cathy's, I would just sign 'M' and she knew they were from me.
Our last conversation was about our world-travelling daughters and Cathy told me how proud she is of her girls. This conversation in particular was about Kendra - Cathy smiled and said, "Ann. Our daughters are following their dreams, what more could we want for them"? She was everyone's cheer-leader; my friends know that I like to applaud like my Dad used to and I will continue to, however I will also clap for others the way Cathy always did.
With much love, Ann, Blake, Rebecca and Benjamin Seward

Sending sincere condolences to Kevin, Kourtney, Ainsley and Kendra, and all the extended Kinch families as well as the Donovan families in this very sad time. My heart is breaking for you. By all accounts, Cathy was an exceptional teacher, a wonderful Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Aunt as well as family photographer for all events, games organizer and so much more. I know she will be the Angel on all your shoulders as you continue in life. Know that Jim and I are thinking of you all. Hold on to so many memories in the difficult days and weeks ahead. Take good care.

It is shocking to learn not only of Cathy's illness but her passing. My association with Cathy was through our time in education with the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, and then the Eastern Ontario RCSS Board. I am reminded of her energy, creativity and love for her students. My sympathy to all her family. May she rest in peace.
