Rick, I wish we would have had a moment to say good-bye, but that wasn't to be. So long my friend, we both loved you like a brother. I will miss our almost daily phone conversations, and times spent together. I have loads of memories of the old days when we worked together on the Chalk River Subdivision of CP Rail, also of our times shared fishing and hunting. Our times at the rink watching the Bears play. You were part of our family and are greatly missed. Fifteen years ago you got a second chance at life and made the best of it, you enjoyed everyday of your retirement. Don't worry about Harley, we found him a new home where he will be greatly loved if he ever comes out of hiding in a closet. To your sisters Joan, Wendy and the rest of your family, we send our deepest condolences. Jack and Debbie Saunders

I just got back from the Moose hunt and learned of Richard's passing. Many memories such as playing high school football as a member of the CPHS Bears, the many visits to the old Mississippi Hotel listening to the Silver Fox, cards etc. Will miss you Richard. Janet and Brian.

What can I say Rick was a fixture in my house growing up, my dad (Jack Saunders) and him were always close friends, so much so that I always called him Uncle Rick. I will never forget seeing him in ICU years ago, I though he wasn't going to make it then but he did. He also changed his life and I was very proud of him. You were a loving, caring, funny and artistic person who we will all miss. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
Love Emily Saunders and Scott Commodore.
