Karen, I never did get to know you , as I moved to the Kingston area before you became part of our family. Your big brother Keith however; I did know quite well. The clearest memory of your mom that has stayed with me .......... involved your brother. We ,mostly, got along very well, but there were times when our friendship ,sort of resembled that of my brother Ernie, and your late uncle Glen. There were times ,when the competition for MOST HOME RUNS ON THE SCHOOL BALL FEILD ........ or for the ATTENTIONS OF GIRL FREINDS ,,,, led to minny battles between Keith and myself. In those days of our youth, we ,both had to be at our best every day. ........... or else another good friend, the debonair David Greer ,could take your girl away. ********* ***** I know this is getting long. .... but one day ,in the spring of 1962 Keith and I decided to .... Fight all the way Home. From one ditch to the other, we done battle, ........... sometimes laughing, most of the time very serious and determined. At about 5:20 PM we literally rolled into Cora Burchell,s front yard .......with torn shirts, torn pants, scoffed and bruised faces. We knew, full well ,that it should be only .. 4:20 ... Not 5 :20. at tis point. Well .... we got the message loud and clear ...... that your mom was NOT A HAPPY LADY .. AT THAT MOMENT !!!! SHE BLASTED US GOOD ............ THERE WAS NO MISTAKING HER MESSAGE, ..but one thing I always respected, about Mrs. Burchill ----- she did NOT tell my dad or else I, Denzil Beaupre, would not have lived until age 66 , still remembering THE BEST DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

To Karen and Keith and family- Cora was a very special person and I feel privileged to have had her as a Rosebridge volunteer for all those years. I always used to say "here comes my girls" as I watched Cora and Kathleen walk down the driveway towards the home. The pair of them will always be part of this place. I always laughed at Cora because she would come in from the cold and say "what do you think of this" as she put her icy hands on some part of your exposed skin. The more you jumped the better she liked it. I was thinking about all the trips, picnics, birthday parties, bingos and other events that she helped with. I remember one particular outing-she was probably 80 something, I said, from across the parking lot, "just wait a minute and I'll put that wheelchair in the trunk." Before I could blink she swung that very heavy chair into the trunk. I said "Cora your going to hurt yourself" She way unfased and explained to me all the things she had to carry and lug as a farm girl. She had a cute little smurk on her face when said it. Cora taught me a great deal about being a good person. She was kind, patient and very unselfish. She loved her family very much and often mentioned her grandchildren. I counted on her for over two decades and she never let me or the residents of Rosebridge Manor down. I only hope to become as good a person as she was. Kathy Barr

To Cora's family: Cora was a very dear soul and caring. I became good friends with her when my Mother was a resident at Rosebridge Manor. Also her nephew Doug Connerty was also a very good friend of mine and we would chat regarding Doug and Barb. Thoughts and Prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. Gone but not forgotten.
