Obituary of Robert Archibald Gemmell

Gemmell, Robert (Bob) Archibald - Aged 94 years, of Jasper, Ontario, passed away peacefully following a stroke on December 1st, 2021, in the Smiths Falls Hospital. Bob had a long and fulfilling life. He was born in Maidstone, Saskatchewan. He moved to Jasper, Ontario with his parents and younger sister Myrna in 1947, where he lived and farmed until his passing. For many years he and his wife Dorothy operated Gemmell's Cottages and boat and motor rentals along with dairy farming. For some years he was a commercial fisherman and trapper along the Rideau River at his farm. He loved to tell stories about growing up in Saskatchewan and wrote a book about his early life on the Prairies. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 62 years Dorothy (nee Davis), sons Jim (Maria) Kirk, sisters Dorcas Howitt (Len), and Eileen Langridge (Fred), sisters-in-law Phyllis Dowdall (Cal), and Leanore Ostermiller (John), and Great Grandson Jackson (Carolyn and Kelly). Bob is survived by his son Blair (Kim), his sister Myrna Webster (Russ), his sister-in-law Virginia Munro (Art), daughter-in-law Maria Gemmell (Jim); grandchildren Graham (Amanda), Carolyn (Kelly), Owen (Amy), Laura, Scott (Melissa), Katy (Jake), Lindsay (Mark), Andrew (Stephanie), Cindy (Trevor); great grandchildren Emily, Connor, Reese, Palmer, Blakely, Leo, Lincoln, Nylah, Benjamin, Alexandra, Karson, Kirklynn, and Wolf. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and many nieces, nephews and friends. A visitation and service will take place at a later date.
