Sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Among the very best supervisors I had while at Statistics Canada. His brilliant intelligence was only outdone by his kindness. Doug was quite willing to share his wisdom and experience while making projects fun. Plenty of chuckles accompanied serious work. Rest In Peace, Doug.

Our families run deep with a long history in Eganville and Ottawa. I think one of my earliest memories of Doug was when Cathy and I scrubbed Bea’s bathroom floor with Avon bubble bath. As I recall Doug was not very happy with us girls. First came the look and the assessment of facts. Second, the smirk and itty bitty smile. Third, OK girls clean it up! I don’t recall any punishment. A lesson learned and remembered! Doug was always happy at the family gatherings on Jane Street. He laughed, enjoyed life and had friendly wise words to say to us kids. He spoke softly but with meaning, a good voice of reason. On another occasion when George and I were boating through the Rideau locks, Doug was there to give us a big wave and take our picture. A memory I will not forget. I believe that Doug lived his life to the fullest. With Carol by his side, and his three very amazing children, they provided him love and support.
Doug, I hope you are hanging out with Dave, visiting with Wes, Archie & Florence and our extended families.
Carol, Cath & Steve,
May your heart flex to the grief you have, may your body get all the support you need, may your soul feel the loving and eternal tethering you share from this world to his, beyond. Grief is perhaps the last and final translation of love. My heart is with you.
My deepest sympathies.
Love Myra
xx

Our deepest sympathies to Carol, Cathy, and Stephen on the passing of Doug. Our personal lives have been entwined with your family forever. I vividly remember in 1963 Doug leaving the Ottawa police force and becoming the town police in Eganville Ontario. Carol’s parents had a cottage at Lake Clear and as an avid hunter and fisherman , Doug decided he and the family would pursue the valley life for a while. Doug lived with Bea and Wes , Carol’s aunt and uncle , who were my parents ,until he found family accommodation and could move the family from Avenue P in Ottawa. Many fond memories I have of hunting partridge, ducks, geese and deer with Doug . The fishing excursions summer winter and spring with Doug, my Dad Wesley , Don Mcfarlane, and I a kid at the time, hauled out of school to tag along are priceless to me. So long for now my Dear Friend I will most certainly miss you and the times we shared and the memories we made. You can now share those times around Burns Lake, Highland Lake , Lake Clear and countless lakes in between again with my Dad Wesley, Don Mcfarlane, Delly Miller . Thank you for being YOU and mentoring me. Most sincerely Barry Tiegs and family- Marilyn , and Carols Aunt Bea.

Dear Carol, Cathy, Steve, Taylor & Bryson - I knew Doug way back in the 1950s when I was just Bryson's age and Doug was my sister's sweetheart. He taught me to ride my two wheel bike and even to play the piano (although I never was very good....) Bill and I will remember fondly all the great times we had around the Christmas tables, a very memorable birthday party at Bear Lake, a lovely road trip to Washington, D.C., and so many more fun times...... Thank goodness for our good memories, because of them Doug will always be with us. Our very deepest sympathies, Lynne & Bill

Dear Carol, Catherine, Steve and family. Our hearts break along with yours at the sad news of Doug’s passing. Yes always a good chat whenever we talked or saw each other. He was so kind to us when Bob’s brother passed away, delivering flowers to our sister-in-law. Will never forget his kindness or his huge smile. I know our dear Dave would be waiting with open arms. Together again. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this sad and difficult time. Elaine and Bob DeLisle
