Byng Club posted a condolence
Saturday, April 2, 2022
The Byng Club (Lac St Charles, Quebec) would like to send its sympathies to family and friends. Russ was an active member and former President of our Club for many years and made strong contributions that have helped it thrive to this day. We know that he spent many happy hours at the old Major's Point cabin with his sons over the years and loved this pristine lake.

We moved in behind Rus and Myrna at Horne Lake a couple years ago. Rus was the best - he always greeted us with warm welcome, was exceptionally nice to our kids and all around a fantastic guy. We know he loved his family deeply and was so excited to have family come visit. We will truly miss him and our hearts go out to his family.

My condolences to the Webster Family. My name is Don Crawford and I got to know Russ when he was at the Sylvania Campground. As you know if you knew Russ he was very friendly and was always interested in what was happening with you or your family. We spend many hours in the summer four-wheeling, playing cards, sitting around the campfire, potluck suppers and yes we had the odd drink.
He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. RIP buddy, you will be truly missed.

A life. A few words. A day like today… will pass.
I believe love is forever. So… To Pa. Love Harry.
I asked Dad if he’d be O.K. if I wore jeans & a nice shirt today.
“I am not a suit & tie guy, “ I said.
“I know, “ he said. “That would be fine as long as you’re there.”
He was always there for me. Even if he couldn’t be right there, all the time, he was still there. Still is.
Quite a few people, over the years, have said to me “ Your father is a good man.”
I’ve always said “ Yes, I’ve known him my whole life, and yes, he is a good man. One of the best."
Myrna said, when he passed, that he was the best thing in her life. Dad told me, many times,
that he got it right when he married Myrna, and that being with her was the best part of his life.
And through out that life there were many things that were important to him. His friends in the military,
the masons, the Byng fish & game club, to name a few. Any & all friends. Any, and all social gatherings.
And always, his love for family. Always the love of his family.
And always, a certain love, for rocking chairs on porches…
When I asked Dad if Katie & I could have our wedding on the knoll at Horne Lake, of course you can he said.
When I asked him if he would be my “ Best Man”, he said he would be honoured to, but why not one of my friends?
I said they were all best friends, but that he was the best man I know.
He still is.
Always will be.
Love ya, Pa.

My thoughts and prayers are with my family now and always as we grieve the loss of our grandfather, father, great grandfather. He was a beautiful man who loved his family and friends passionately and would never hesitate to lend an ear or a hand when someone was in need. Nothing brought him more joy than rocking on the porch watching his loved ones enjoy the lake that he devoted so much of his life conserving. He will be missed as much as he was adored.
