Farris, Charles "Allan" - of Smiths Falls, age 90, at the Kingston General Hospital on March 14, 2022, with his family by his side. Loving husband for 65 years of Heather (Jones). Son of Catherine and Charles Farris of Sarnia. Cherished father of Glenn (Joanne Turner). Predeceased by son David (Sheila Linseman), and daughter Pamela (Byron Mitchener). Dear grandpa of Zachary and Bryanna Farris, Kayla and Brendan Farris, and Ryan Chan. Predeceased by sisters Anna Rodey, Janet Trumble, and Margaret Cairns, and brother James Farris. Survived by brother-in-law Barry Jones, and many nieces, nephews and good friends. Allan was an avid sportsman all his life - as a young man he played and excelled at every sport that he could find, and was a speedy running back for the Sarnia Imperials ORFU football team in the early 1950's. He then coached, umpired and refereed for various for various hockey and football leagues. Allan was born at home in Sarnia and after high school worked at Polymer Corporation for 15 years, before packing up and moving to the Perth area where he and his family purchased and then spent working at Bass Lake Lodge and Circle W Ranch in Lombardy for 15 years. After they left there and moved to Black Lake, he became the ice maker at the Perth Curling Club for about 10 years, then retiring to spend winters in Florida. Allan was a man of many talents - he built two boats for waterskiing, and three houses for his family, was famous for his singing version of The Little Red Hen, and playing the Gutbucket. In spite of his ferociousness on the field or rink, he was a kind and gentle man, known to many as Big Al. There will be no visitation at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lannin Funeral Home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lannin.ca
