Obituary
Please share a memory of Norman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Norman was born in Nova Scotia on September 20, 1926. He was one of 13 children born to Lizzie and Stuart Scott. He married Marguerite in Nova Scotia and they had three boys together - Richard, Kirk and Raymond. In Nova Scotia he worked in the coal mine and for a lumber company. The family was mobile, moving from Nova Scotia to Pincher Creek, Alberta in 1953 and from there to Brantford, Ontario and later in 1961 to Smiths Falls, Ontario where he worked at the Rideau Regional Centre and Wills Transfer. Marguerite passed on and later Norman married Gladys. He travelled to Florida on the winters and enjoyed visiting family in Nova Scotia. Norman was retired 38 years and enjoyed helping neighbours and friends, especially if it involved using his tractor. He loved cutting trees down and riding his bicycle. In his later years he enjoyed playing euchre with friends at Seniors or wherever there was a card game. He especially had a love of music and dancing with his friend Shirley at the local dances in the area. Norman's sense of humour and quick wit kept him young at heart. He was knowledgeable and great at storytelling. Norm had close relationships with his grandchildren and was a loving father and good friend to his children. Peacefully at the Smiths Falls Hospital on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in his 88th year. Predeceased by his beloved wives Marguerite and Gladys. Loving father to Richard Scott (Annie), Kirk Scott (Bonnie), Norma Scott and the late Raymond Scott. Dear Grandfather to Curry, Doug, Tina (Dave Bentley), the late Chad, Nicole (Real Lacosse) and Matthew. Great-Grandfather of Seven. Cherished brother of Leonard (Erma) and Grace Patriquin. Dear friend of Shirley McGrath. Predeceased by his 10 brothers and sisters. Also survived and loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. As per Norm's wishes, Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations to any charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home, Smiths Falls.
