Obituary of Alan Douglas Hanna
Please share a memory of Alan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hanna, Alan Douglas
Alan Hanna passed away at home in Smiths Falls on Dec 16 following a feisty battle with lung cancer. He was 68.
Alan is survived by his wife of 31 years, Helen Clarke-Hanna, mother Phyllis Hanna, sisters Karen Broadfoot, Debra Hanna (Dave Perkins), Pat Gauley (Randy) and Gail Wall (Jeff), brotherly uncle Mike Nolan (Deb), aunt Doreen Blouin, aunt Gertrude Hanna, and other special relatives and many good friends.
Alan, like his late father Bill Hanna, spent most of his working life in the Ottawa Citizen’s circulation department before joining Friesen Kaye and Associates. He retired in 2017.
Alan’s life passions included Old English sheepdogs, British sports cars, tennis, and sailing trips with the boys.
A celebration of Alan will take place next summer near the Ottawa River. Details will follow. In the meantime, please raise a glass this holiday season to the kind, fun-loving and understated Al.
The family would like to thank Drs. Jason Pantarotto and Paul Wheatley-Price, Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre, as well as the nursing staff and radiology technicians, for their excellent care of Alan.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation - Cancer Research. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home. Online condolences available at www.lannin.ca
