Obituary of Jean Mary Sears

Sears, Jean Mary Peacefully at the Smiths Falls Hospital on Tuesday, September 05, 2023, at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Orville Sears. Loving mother of Gerry, the late Joy, the late John (late Mary), and Jan (late Doug). Cherished grandmother of Jenny, Bobby, the late Willy, Angela (Dan), and Tracey (Ben). Great grandmother of Daphne (John), Ryan, Kristina (Brad), Emma, Kyle, and Kerri. Great great grandmother of 4; Emanuel, Liam, Alexis, and Paisley. Born to Bill and Elsie Leader in the village in southern England, she met and married a Canadian soldier during the war and came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 with a small baby. There they made their home in Merrickville and raised four children together during which time Jean did a lot of sewing, singing, and playing the piano which were her passions. They were finally able to build their dream, a new home, and moved in 1973. In 1975 her husband, Arthur, passed away very suddenly and later Jean met and married Orville Sears with whom she spent 43 years before his death in 2020. Orville and Jean shared a love a gardening and growing things and spent their days at his occupation at their lovely home in Oxford on Rideau, except when they travelled which they did widely, both enjoyed seeing new countryside. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Lannin Funeral Home on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A memorial service will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Merrickville on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Merrickville Union Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately following the Interment at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 245, Merrickville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home.
