Carmichael, Helen Martin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in her 96th year. Helen is predeceased by her daughter Pamela Joynt, her first husband, Art Martin, and her second husband, Bud Carmichael. Survived by her son Lawrence Martin, her daughter Ruth Martin, and her grandchildren Derek (Amy), Tara (Brent), Todd (Kerry), Rachel (Alex), and David (Brooke). Helen will also be lovingly remembered by her great grandchildren, Barret, Mason, Brynlyn, Lyndon, Donovan, Olivya, Davis, Rose and Theo.
After graduating from business college, Helen started her career as an accounting assistant. Always creative, she enjoyed oil painting, cake decorating and many artistic interests. Helen established the Cake Decor Centre in Smiths Falls, where she taught candy making and cake decorating as well as creating wedding cakes for many. She enjoyed social activities and was well known for her beautiful trays of squares. Perhaps most of all, she enjoyed her role as family matriarch — a beloved Mom, Grandma and “GG”.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Lannin Funeral Home on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 12:00pm till the time of the service in the Chapel at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Maple Vale Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately following the Interment at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 95, Smiths Falls.
