It has been a few years since I last saw Aunt Joan (Bunny) but I have many cherished memories of her as well as all her sisters and brothers. One winter, when my mother, Louise Gertrude MacGarvie, was just a little girl her mother, Lou, was quite ill and the Gallops in Dalhousie took my mother to stay with them. She was never adopted but was brought up by the Gallops. When the MacGarvie family farm burned to the ground and the family moved to Montreal, my mother remained with the Gallops.
However, the family retained the farm property known as Maple Green outside Dalhousie,NB and returned most summers for family reunions and to camp on the farm. During these visits, our home was filled with music and laughter. Aunt Bunny as well as all her siblings had very quick wits and had a lot of musical talent. I seem to recall that Bunny's husband, Gerry, was also an accomplished violinist. I still remember my elderly grandfather, Angus, during these times rocking on our front porch and quietly puffing away on his pipe.
Although separated from her siblings, my mother inherited their sense of humour and was a very talented piano player. Bonds with her family remained very strong throughout her life.

I have a few memories of your mother from when I was young and those were of a strong, caring and protective mama-bear. I respect that. May she rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear about aunt Bunny’s passing. I have such fond memories of her…always smiling and laughing and so very funny…like the time she and aunt Sam both dressed up as babies to surprise me when I was pregnant with my son at my cousin Janice’s house.
May the the loving, fond memories of her, bring you peace, comfort and strength today and always.
You are all in my thoughts.
