Don Cooper posted a condolence

Jeff and family, We wish to extend our belated sincerest sympathies on the sad passing of Pat! As neighbours in Smiths Falls, when we were both growing up, Don got to know Pat and her family quite well. Pat's Dad, Roy, took Don under his wings, and taught him many things, once showing him how to go about selling a litter of hamster pups, which were a surprise to the Cooper family, because we had supposedly bought two males from a pet shop on Bank St. in Ottawa; Roy was a pharmaceutical salesman and his expertise paid off. Although our paths have not crossed much since high school, I knew that Pat grew up to be a very special lady, one who was brought up in a very loving home by two wonderful parents. I can only imagine the sadness you are experiencing at this time, but I pray that you will be comforted by your family and friends, and that the sadness will subside, with fond and loving memories remaining! Don and Sheila Cooper

It has been a blessing and an honour to know and love you my sister-in-law and Sister of the Heart. I have so many memories- baking in your kitchen, cooking in mine, and will hold them all in my heart for all time. I love you much and will miss you until the day we are reunited on the streets of gold!

I am so blessed to have had Pat for my Aunt. Though we lived far apart she always made our visits so special - scavenger hunts, baking together, shopping, helping around the barn and lots of picnics. So many special childhood memories left for me to cherish. She will be missed.

Our sincerest condolences to you, Jeff on this very sad occasion . There are many fond memories that I cherish over the years since first meeting you both. Memories such as Monday night dinners, superbly prepared by Pat, before Jeff and I would retire to the basement to play trains for the evening, or, the fragrant aroma of a new recipe wafting through the house on a Sunday afternoon while a bunch of us were building onto the train layout, to more recently, travelling to Merrickville, from Kingston, with my son, Dustin, and being greeted with a warm hello at the store every time. We will miss all that. But we will remember Pat and celebrate her life. Warmest regards, Michael, Megan, Dustin, Jaime and Cara Pasch

I'm not sure that she knew how special she was -- to me and to others, If not for Pat, I never would have met Penny Wiliams who was a friend and mentor to me for over 20 years.

To Pat's family, my deepest sympathy. I still use many of Pat's recipes - the best no fail pastry and so many other's. I also looked forward to her column in the paper it was more than recipes - often a good story. I tried to get an address to send a get well card when it was announced she was leaving the paper. God bless Pat

Pat was like another mother to me. She and Jeff allowed me to work at Railfair, help set up and open the new store, contribute recipes, and cook for her cookbook premiere. She taught me to be fearless in the kitchen. Her kindness will be sorely missed. Jennifer Pearn (nee Hood)

I did not know Pat personally, but so looked forward to her recipes in the paper! Many have become staples for us. I appreciated her contribution and was sad when the recipes no longer were in the paper God bless you Pat... I always wanted to know how to find you to say Thank You, but now share that sentiment instead with the loved ones left behind.

Pat was one of three Pats who with their model railroad husbands joined together for barbeques, Christmas and July 1st gatherings and model railroad shows. She was a wonderful, warm person, a good friend and a great cook. We will miss her. Brian & Pat

I so appreciate all that this woman did for her community. A very special person. I did not know Pat personally, but yet she was part of our family and still lives on in our lives through her many recipes that we treasure. I feel a tremendous loss with pyûat not being in the EMC each week. Her column is was the best in the county. Thanking you her family for all the great things she accomplished with your support.
