Peacefully with family at her side in hospital in Smiths Falls, Ontario on Saturday, September 11, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Clifford C. Macfarlane. Born on September 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William A. Craig and Myrtle Hobbs. Loving mother of Jean (Vincent Lee-Chong) of Ottawa, Jim Macfarlane (Mary) of Barrie and Bob Macfarlane (Dorothy) of London, Ontario. Dear sister of Orlin Craig (Helen) of Victoria, BC, Isobel Leahy (Ron) of Smiths Falls and dear sister-in-law of Wilma Craig of Smiths Falls. Dear friend of her cousin, Marguerite Cameron (Murray) of Smiths Falls. Cherished grandmother of William Lee (Val), Elizabeth Lee-Chong, Carol Grundy (Ian), Douglas Macfarlane (Meredith), Ruth and Sharon Macfarlane and great-grandmother of Katie and Matthew Grundy, Owen and Maxwell Macfarlane and Jrmie Lee. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert Stewart Craig of England, Douglas Craig of Smiths Falls, and Stanley, Gordon and Kenneth Spooner of Smiths Falls. She will be sadly missed by her many friends & relatives. Gladys was a founding member of the Rideau Womens Institute and received her 50 year membership pin in 2000. She was active in the United Church for many years, researched her family history and was an excellent quilter. Friends may call at the Lannin Funeral Home, 32 Main St. E., Smiths Falls on Thursday September 16, 2010 from 12 to 2 PM. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 2 PM. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
