Barb, Carey and Heather. Deepest sympathy to your entire family, loved ones and friends, on Harry's Passing. He was a dedicated, honest, reliable public servant for many years and well respected by his peers, elected officials and our larger Recreation Community. He was always there when you needed him the most and never complained, no matter how difficult the task before him. The flags at our Town Hall have been lowered to half mast in respect of your loss. The thoughts and prayers of our entire Community are with you all.

Like many, I've had a heavy heart all week. But I've also reflected on the years when Harry (Hare) was most influential and impactful on my life. I'm honored to have been good friends with Cary since 12 or 13, which means, to the Campbells, I was one of the family. Harry was my first boss at the rink, where I worked part time ('84 - '90 or so). He put up with my foolishness with a simple shake of the head. He didn't yell at me when I broke the axle of the riding mower... or when I stepped on the paint tray and ended up painting the floor of a dressing room. And when I complained about cleaning the puck marks off the glass, he told me to call Home Hardware to find out if they had any elbow grease. I did. He would just leave lists of things to do (like clean, clean, clean, clean. Re: dirt). And then check up on us to make sure we did it. He taught me many lessons, but usually by letting me figure it out for myself vs. telling me. Outside of that, he, along with Barb, always welcomed me (along with all the gang) into their home. He put up with weekend after weekend of us hanging out, watching movies, playing games, and everything in between. Those were good times. And Harry was there to watch over our shoulders when needed. I hadn't seen Harry in years, which makes me sad. I would have liked to see him one more time just to say thank you.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Harry. Although the "Henderson" families have drifted apart, we still have great memories of times past - especially when Harry was in charge of the "beer tub". We also send our prayers to Barb in her own medical struggles, and even though time and distance has kept us apart, our support remains strong. I'm not sure if we can get to Smith Falls on the 6th, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
