We first met Marie in November 2000, when we had the very good fortune to be referred to her when we were looking for a golden retriever puppy. Her dog Keisha had just given birth to puppies, and we were blessed to meet our beautiful Islay , 1 of the 3 girl pups for the first time. For many years thereafter we were delighted to have remained friends with Marie, she saw Islay often and she renamed her LaLa :) Islay loved her. Sadly Islay passed away in April this year. I know she'll be with Marie now, reunited again. Marie was a special lady with a kind heart. She will be missed. She will always have a special place in our hearts. Our thoughts are with Wayne, David and all the family . May you rest in peace my lovely lady surrounded by your loved ones and by many beautiful doggies you have raised and helped. Night night Marie, sleep tight x Cathy, Guy, Alexandra and Abby x

Dear Wayne, David and family of Marie I had the privilege to work with Marie when I came to the Canadian Labour Congress as an Executive Vice-President in 2002. She was very supportive in helping me learn about the role of the translators in our work, and was always supportive of this Anglophone from Saskatchewan as I took on immersion classes at Jonquiere. I always felt she was helping me to learn French more and better and without judgment in my efforts to get those pesky verbs correct. We also formed a bond over animals. I used to show dogs before I became active in the labour movement so we would chat about upcoming shows, who of her furry friends was going to be shown and how they did after the show, rescue animals etc. Marie would tell me about shows in the area and invite me to come to see her and also to see the collies which were the breed I exhibited. I did have the chance to do that a few times. My regret is that I did not take her up on the offer more often. Let that be a lesson to all of us to seize the opportunity to be with friends when they offer and whenever you can. Marie also welcomed my Cheyenne into your home. He was aging and arthritic and received the best of care on the occasion he stayed with you. Thank all of you for your gentle hearts and hands. I will miss you Marie. I know that somewhere you are surrounded by those you love and who love you - some with cold, wet noses! Barbara Byers CLC Secretary Treasurer

Marie was such a thoughtful, kind person. She would do anything for anyone . She took care of a rescue of mine last June when I was on holidays. I knew she would be able to handle Muppet and she did a great job looking after him. When I picked up Muppet he didn't want to leave her. I will miss Marie very much. My sympathies to Wayne and David.

Dear Wayne, David and family, I worked with Marie at the Canadian Labour Congress for many years. We had many conversations about the labour movement over the years along with all things dogs and her beloved Wayne and David. What I respected the most about Marie was her fierce commitment to working people and to doing her part to achieve justice for workers. She was ever dedicated to advancing a safe and healthy workplace at the CLC. She was always willing to listen and never missed an opportunity to show kindness. My sincerest sympathy to you for the loss of your Marie. Cindy Wiggins

Dear Wayne and David, I worked with Marie for many years at the CLC. My fondest memory is the time she took care of our little pug. In fact, she took such good care of him, he hardly wanted to come home. He was being super spoiled by Marie and her son David. Zao got to cuddle and sleep in bed with David. Marie was a very kind, thoughtful and gentle person – always available to talk about personal or dog-related problems and always there to help out a friend. She will be sadly missed. We can all rejoice in the thought that Marie will live forever in the hearts of many people and many dogs. My deepest heartfelt sympathy to all her family.

I spoke to Marie once concerning the health of my dog. She had given me very helpful advice. I felt she had a genuine concern. She was very patient with all the questions I had. A very nice lady. I could tell she had great love for animals. My condolences for her family.

Wayne & David, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Not only did I work with Marie for over 25 years, she was also a friend. Like others have said, she took my Toby in with welcoming arms while we were vacationing on numerous occasions. We knew that he would be spoiled rotten and well taken care of. Rest in peace Marie. She was a very special Aunt to me and my family.... She was never judgemental of anyone and their choices they made . She was always there to help out a friend or family and their dogs . I still remember when we wanted to get a dog and she went with us to help pick our Tucker for our then small boys, it was never a question that she would help .He could not have been a better fit for our family . Uncle Wayne and Aunt Marie spent many week-ends with our dog while we were away at hockey and soccer tournaments . We will miss her SO MUCH but we will never forget her and everything she did for us

I had the pleasure of knowing Marie for not even two years. She was such a kind person who always spoke so highly of her family. She always had a story to tell about her sons childhood, her husbands love and of course the many antics of the dogs. I will truly miss her visits to the salon. My deepest sympathy Laurie
