June 18,2014 a fine man passed away after fighting a battle with cancer that could not be won Bill was a fighter right till the very end. He loved his wife and kids very much and talked about them often . Bill was a good railroader he knew his job and did it well , any trip that you worked with Bill was a good one, anyone who met Bill liked him , he was a little rough around the edges but had a heart of gold and he would give you the shirt right off his back if you needed it ,it has been an honour and privilege to have known and worked with you Bill ,I have not only lost a great co-worker but a good friend and the world has lost a good man. you friend and co-worker David Moore.

To BILL: Another piece of my heart broken! Your laughter and sneaky smiles I will never forget. Card games were never your loss, rather U liked to blame the ladies cuz we didn’t play the game right, or U woud say “I let U win”! “All said with a heart of gold”. Where do I begin…So many memories; going to share onl 1. **I remember first meeting Billy when he came to Holland to visit us with his parents (my oma/opa, late 1958-59). He was wearing his red cowboy hat & a whistle around his neck. He was a bully then, but just being a little boy, doing his thing! When our family immigrated to Canada in 1961 oma/opa put our entire family up & later on in time Bill & family moved to Merickville. Whenever we came to visit, his mom (my oma) insisted he take me to Sunday school, no ands or buts about it! Bill took control again (even though I was older then him), the bully, but the trouble we both got into -> on the way to church & back – all those times - are priceless memories (which we never shared with anyone)! He’s been a rock of gibralter to me! **He truly was larger than life with a heart to match & was taken too soon! I’m can’t say goodbye, rather until we meet again my friend!!!! To BRENDA: You've had to be so strong for Bill through what he's had to endure over the past while. U have much family to help U through the next number of months. We are here for U, Crystal & Anthony & the rest of the family! Forever Yours, Nettie, et all

Bill was a gentlemen's gentleman. Always up beat. He took great pride in his railroad career. If you were called to work with him, you knew you'd have a good trip no matter how bad the run was. A good friend. Always there for you when you need help. Respected by all, and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. He served proudly as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Division 295. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this troubled time. Sincere condolences to Brenda and family. Brother, you will forever live on in my heart.

Billy taught me how to play chess. Whenever we'd play after that and I'd win, he'd say it was because I knew the game, not because he let me win. I thank him for the wonderful...twist of the truth. That's the way he always was. Thoughtful. Considerate. Giving. He gave of his time, his most generous and always-there smile, his very heart and soul. The most precious thing he gave me was his friendship, and it lasted for most of our lives. You will be sorely missed, my dear friend. Sincerest condolences to Brenda, Crystal, Anthony; to Nettie, Jack, Bea, Andy; to all I have met and to those I have not. My heart is with you at this time. Susan Brady Murray. <3
