To all the Lumsden Family: Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss of Fran. I am sorry I was away in the U.K. and unable to attend the visitation and service. I had the pleasure of knowing Fran for many years and my parents were friends with her and Sherwood and Paul. She sat near me with Babe when we attended service at St. Bede's, and we always had great chats. She was a lovely Lady and a wonderful musician - no one could play the piano like Fran. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Sincerely, Marilyn Lucas.

Frances was my very dear mother-in-law and we became good friends during the time we shared her home.. It was a special time for our 3 sons (Sherwood, Paul and Theodore) to have a resident grandmother. Her ability and passion for the piano is legendary for those who shared her life. Those small agile fingers would fly over the keys and pound out good toe-tapping music. My favorite and I believe hers too, was "Red Roses for a Blue Lady". May she rest in peace.

I have very fond memories of visiting little grandma as a little girl at her house in Smith Falls. I always remember her setting out her orange juice the night before because she liked it room temperature. I find myself doing the same. I will always remember her infectious laugh at all those family reunions. I will always brag to anyone who will listen just how amazing my great-grandma was, and how cool it was she played in a band in her 90s. Love you and Miss you little grandma. At the time I had know idea how special and lucky I was growing up with a family that love to have great get-togethers. My earliest memory of this was at the farm house, at the time Uncle Donald and Aunt Marlene were living there. It was one of many family reunions. It was such a thrill to have so many kids to play with. This is where I learned and started to understand what the family tree was all about and how Aunt Frances and Grandma Kathleen were sisters. It was always a thrill to relearn how to square dance and having Frances with who ever was there to get up and play such great music. Even when I was young Aunt Frances was so easy to sit down and talk with. These memories are so much a part of me. Thank you Aunt Frances and hugs goes out to everyone who new her. What a wonderful, kind, fun loving lady Fran was. She played every morning at RRC for the assembly that we had at 9a.m. The residents - and staff - loved to hear Fran play that piano. The "kids" would sing, get up and dance and clap like crazy as they were so happy to have Fran play their songs. All of you must be so proud of the Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to so many. God sure got another beautiful loving angel. Hugs to the family.

I remember meeting little Grandma when her daughter Bev (Mrs. Miller - grade one teacher at Addison School) brought her as a surprise to Bev's famous Mother's Day Tea.
