I've been a long time client of Bass Lake Lodge. Fred was always an amazing host. Quick with a smile and a laugh, Fred made us feel welcome every year. We've been going every September for over 15 years, and when I heard that he had passed over the winter I was extremely sad to hear of the passing. My heart goes out to Beatriz and her family. My sincere condolences. Gary Allen

Dear Beatrice and Family, We were so shocked to hear of Fred's passing, Mike had a great conversation with Fred on Wed. Feb. 17th after he had plowed our driveway, We also had many laughs when launching our boat over the years, Fred was never without a smile and of course his hearty laugh, was contagious. A good man has left us way too soon, and will be very sadly missed here on Bass lake and area. Our sincere condolences, Mike and Darlene Meehan, Bass Lake Rd. B-3.

I first met Fred in 1969 at Trade school in Switzerland. We sat next to each other the first day and every class after that for the next 4 years. We eventually lost touch, but reconnected again when Fred, Beatrice, and the girls came to visit us in Canada. About a year later, they moved in next door. That was over 20 years ago. Fred was always a great neighbour and close friend. He was there to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed and also barbecued a delicious beef roast for our annual campground beef dinner. The campers will surely miss him too. Fred would often drop in for a morning coffee or afternoon beer and chat. In the winter months, we had a weekly dinner and an evening of card playing. The ladies even let us guys win once or twice. Fred was like a member of the family and he will be truly missed, Bass Lake just won't be the same without him, Our hearts go out to the whole family. Love from Chris, Rose, Steven, Tanya, Paul, & Gabriel.

One of the finest gentleman I have ever had the privilege to meet...a gentle, fun, family loving man. When I was alone at our cottage and my husband in Florida, he taught me how to back out of our long B1 driveway using the side mirrors when the snow banks were taller than the car.Partly because he was not wanting me to call him early in the morning ,, but partly because he wanted me to be safe.We shared a love of Rocky.Rest now Fred, you are well loved and will be missed by many.

We met Fred the first year they took over the lodge over twenty years ago and we have been family friends since. Fred better known as grumpy to his grand kids always had a kind smile and a special spot for all his girls. He loved his country life and had many good friends from the area. We were able to share a venison roast on those rare years that Fred shot one and never more proud than when he was with Sabrina on her first hunt. Glad that we were able to share time together at our place this fall and that you got to see the Welland canal and enjoy lunch in the wineries. I will miss sharing a beer with you at various times during the day as you tried to get jobs done. Beatrice would often try and search you out as you had a stop completing one of you many "one beer jobs" each day. We would hide between cottages and share many a moment solving the problems of the day over a Coors lite. Beatrice would eventually find us shake her head and Fred would start another job. You were a big part of our Bass Lake family and will be missed.

Fred was one of my favorite customers when I worked at Covell's shop. His kind manner, big smile, and ready laugh, made him an easy person to like. It was always a welcome sight to see Fred on the other side of the counter or drive into the lumber yard with his red pickup truck. I never had the pleasure of meeting you, Beatrice. But you and your family will definitely be in my prayers.
