SELBY, David Adrian 1925 - 2016 Peacefully at Sainte-Anne's Hospital on November 24, 2016 at the age of ninety-one years. Predeceased by the bride of his youth, our mother, his cherished and beloved Lauretta (nee Coleman). Also predeceased by his dearly loved wife Heidi (nee Schmidt) with whom he enjoyed happy senior years. The much loved father of daughter Cheryl (widow of Ken Garrett, wife of Barry Leduc), Montreal; son Robert and daughter-in-law Judy, Toronto; daughter Elizabeth and her husband Richard Campeau, Golden, BC. Born in Toronto to lovingly devoted and proud parents, the late Francis and Emma (nee Carr) Selby. Loving and loved brother of the late Paul Selby (wife Anita). The family moved from Toronto to Montreal in David's early teen years. Montreal was his "much loved" city ever since that time. David and Lauretta, children and grandchildren were blessed to have enjoyed sharing family years with Paul and Anita and their family and also with the Coleman family. Proud and much loved grandfather of Heather Selby (Elliot Barlow), Adrienne (Jeff) Vandahl, Patricia Garrett (Kris White), Hannah Garrett, Evangeline Campeau and Owen Campeau. Blessed and much loved great-grandfather of Malcolm and Jake Vandahl. Loved by his dear nieces and nephews. David was proud to serve in the Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Engineers as a commissioned officer. He was a professor in the Faculty of Engineering at McGill University for over thirty-five years and a consulting civil engineer. Recipient of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal presented by his Excellency, Governor General David Johnston. David sought to serve others through his work with The Gideons, Welcome Hall Mission and several other Christian organizations. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed. The family would like to thank all at Residence Place St. Moritz and Sainte-Anne's Hospital for their attentive care and friendship. Reunited with loved ones gone before, awaiting The Resurrection. Visitation will take place at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service at Bethel Baptist Church (3060 Boulevard de la Côte-Vertu, Saint-Laurent, QC H4R 1P8) on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Smiths Falls, ON the next day at 2 p.m. A reception will be held after the burial at Lannins Funeral Home (32 Main St. E., Smiths Falls, ON). A suggestion for donations: the Welcome Hall Mission (Montreal, QC) and Gideon's International in Canada.
