Just found out about Joan's passing. I remember the Elsby's from my time growing up on Beech St. Both Mr and Mrs Elsby's were great people.

Wendy, Tim and family, I remember Joan and your dad from when I was a teenager playing band and sports with you. The Elsby's were there. I particularly remember her gift of music to the community. She was musician and choir director for many years and gave many young people a rallying point with enthusiasm and patience. Thinking of you at this time.
Sincerely, Joan Knox

When I think of Joan,I think about her enduring friendship over the years and her faithful service at the organ And piano.
This time of year, Christmas, was spent in endless hours of rehearsal with the church choirs. The cantata chosen, which invariably seemed like an impossibility, at the last always came together beautifully, and the pews were overflowing as church and community folk came to listen. Always the message of Christ was loud and clear. Christ came to bring us salvation, What a privilege it was to sing under her leadership. Her patience was endless and the fellowship was wonderful.
As i sit here reminiscing of the many friends who have of late joined the cloud of witnesses surrounding us,another dear friend has gone to join their ranks. How fitting she is home for Christmas.
Blessings to the Elsby family. My prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Frieda Garvin

To Wendy, Rick, Tim, and all the family
It has been my absolute joy to be a friend of Joan's for many years. I had the honor of playing the piano while she played the organ at church services, played for her for Junior Choir, was her dedicated chauffeur (which was also an honor) and had the privilege of visiting her every Thursday at Hilltop for almost 4 years. So many, many memories (and stories about all the family!!!). Joan was so at peace with her life in the nursing home, even under such pain almost all the time. I will miss her terribly.

I learnt so much from Mrs. Elsby...she was a huge influence in my life and I will be forever grateful to her. She patiently tried to teach me to play the piano, that didn't work out so great, but it gave me some alone time with her so I looked forward to my lessons. All good memories. She was a wonderful lady.

Wendy and Tim, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren - When I think about your Mom, Grandmother I can always remember her mild and soft temperament. I'm not really sure if my girls remember her but I do and your father as well. God always has the plan. Our job is to be obedient to His Will. Mrs. Elsby's plan has now come to completion and she is in the presence of the Lord. What a great day when we see our Savior face to face.
Sending love and hugs to all of you from all of us.

Dear Wendy and Tim and Families:
John 11: 25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
We know Joan went to be with her Lord. Her faith and trust in Him down through the years has been strong and secure. We extend our sympathy and condolences to you and your families at this time.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are for your strength and comfort.
Love always,

Wendy, Tim and families ... was sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I remember her well during our high school days and basketball games. I also knew your Dad and worked with him at the Hospital. I am sure their reunion is a joyous one. Hold tight to the many good memories you have, in the days and weeks ahead, to help you through this difficult time.

Wendy,
Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing . I appreciated your Mom very much. I can recall on my visits to First Baptist and her sharing her wonderful love of music with us. She lived her faith for all to see and expressed it so well in her musical ministry. It was also my privilege to serve her in later years with her mobility needs, first at Willowdale, then at Hilltop. She was a great lady and willl be missed here, but is rejoicing in her Heavenly Home.
