Dear Doreen and family
It is with a sad heart to hear the passing of your dear husband and father, Albert. He was one of our greatest ministers at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Napanee. Doreen and Albert were good friends of my parents and my mom loved making a pie when your family would arrive in Napanee for a visit. I remember when I went to the first service Albert was our minister and he asked me my name ( while standing outside) and when I told him he said oh, Jane and Wallace's daughter. He had a gift for remembering names.
I was visiting my sister in California when I got the news or I would have been at Alberts service.
All our best to the Hopkins family, our thoughts are with you.

We wish to express our sincere condolences to the family. We first met Rev Hoppins when he came to the Merrickville Anglican Church. He baptized both our daughter who are now in their late 20's. My mother, Adrienne Eagle, was very active in the church, and always spoke so highly of him. He was such a kind and caring man. I worked at the OPP detachment just outside of Smiths Falls and he stopped in a number of times to say hi...and even went out of way one day and stopped in at the Kemptville detachment when I had transferred there. He will be greatly missed.

My sincere condolences to the family. I had the pleasure of meeting Reverend Hoppins while living on the same street. It was not uncommon to look out my window and see him on his daily walk. Albert was a true man of God who not only preached his faith but lived his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ in every day and every way.
His love and family and friends will be long remembered. The only thing loved as much as his Lord was his wife Doreen who shared her love and home with all in whom she and he came in contact with.
May Peace and Joy enfold you as this sorrowful yet joyous, knowing that Albert is now with his Lord.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Albert - he was a great man. We remember so many memories of years gone by when we camped together, your Family & our Family. We always had a great time together & looked forward to being with you. Many times Albert would call when we were still living in Smiths Falls, put the coffee pot on, we are coming down for a visit, & sure enough in a few minutes, you would arrive.
We remember several times when we were camping that we always went to church on Sunday & many times with both of our Families, we made up half of the congregation. Oh what great memories we have.
We are sorry we will be unable to attend the funeral but our thoughts will be with you the Family during this difficult time. God bless you.

Dear Doreen and Family,
It was such an honor and pleasure to do ministry with 'Ab' during my short interim placement at St John the Evangelist. As a new kid to the Diocese and Smith Falls area he made me feel at home with his grace, humility and sense of humor. I'm so glad I had a chance to chat with him recently to catch up a bit, but in true fashion he didn't let on how sick he must have been but was more concerned for Doreen. My prayers are with you and family,
Sincerely,
-Rev Rick Gariepy

I am sorry to here of Uncle Albert's passing. Our family will surely miss him He was a gentle soul with a gentle voice. He always listened and only gave advice when asked. He became a support along with Aunt Doreen for ourselves when my dad Jim Hoppins passed away. Then again just this January he answered my call when my mom Lynn Hoppins passed away. He helped our children through both those passing. He has been there for us in more ways than can be said. There is no words to say how great of a man he was. He spoke the word of the Lord and lived his life with God as his leader. The heaven gates where open wide for him and many came to great him. I feel that God Almighty welcomed him, himself and took him to the highest kingdom.
Sending our prayers and thoughts you.

We offer our condolences to the family of Rev. Albert Hoppins. He was truly an extraordinary person and will be greatly missed by many! He was a wonderful Husband, a proud Father and Grandfather and a great Brother, Brother-in-Law, Uncle and more. He was devoted to the Lord and it showed in his Ministry to the people. His smile was infectious and he could joke with everyone as well as have his serious side. He followed my kids through their journey in life and they respect him so much for all his efforts and his passion. He has been involved in my Grandkids lives as well. Rev. Hoppins could get his message across to the young people and was devoted to watching them grow. As an Angel in heaven now, he will be there for so many that followed him. My family will certainly miss seeing his infectious smile and his quick whit along with his neverending jokes. As kids attending the Anglican Church in Merrickville, Albert would come out of the Choir procession heading to the front of the church to tell me to just let my daughter go about the church as she wanted. He would love to see her at the front with him. She was a rambunctious 2 year old at the time. My son had lots to say in the Sunday School while we were at church. If I recall he mentioned credit cards to Doreen in his class when asked what we should be thankful for. There are so many memories we shared with the Hoppins family. They always opened their doors. Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. He was truly a wonderful person.
