My deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time.
If I may share a story you may have heard from Brian before which was about a "guy" on highway 43 who was hit by a deer. Well I was that "guy" back in 1993. I was t-boned as I was driving to work one morning by a deer. As I gained control of my vehicle after impact and pulled over to the shoulder, I was quite shaken up and upset. The deer...well it was in bad shape in the middle of the highway and needed to be put down unfortunately. Well as I looked up there was Brian. He brought his truck to a halt and hopped out to say..."holy man...how'd you hang on to that vehicle while it fishtailed, that was crazy". We both laughed then he looked at the deer and made the decision that it was too hurt to recover. With that he whipped out a knife, slit it's throat and said it was too busted up to eat so he'd call the township. As I thanked him he said "Go call your insurance company and fix your vehicle."
I drove a way as he dragged the deer to the ditch.
I've never forgotten that accident and I've never forgotten Brian.
May he be in peace and in a good hunting bush!
Thank you for listening,
Bob Martin
