When Doug was principal of Almonte And District High School, several of my children were students there. We all found him to be an admirable principal. After his first term, we heard that he was going to be transferred to a different school. I headed up a group of parents who successfully lobbied the school board to keep Doug at ADHS. Happily, the school then was able to enjoy several more years under Doug's fine guidance.
My sincerest condolences to the Kilpatrick family.
Marie Dunn (Mrs. John Dunn)

Mrs. "K" and family. Please accept my heart felt condolences in the loss of your husband and father. I remember Doug as a true gentleman, who as Principal of ADHS was a truly caring and concerned educator with the well being of his students at the forefront. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Rick and I are so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I know he will be happy to be with your Mom again.
Doug took a couple of newly weds under his wing and set us up at many different schools over our careers. He was a remarkable man who we both hold in highest regards.
He was loved by so many and always so kind to our boys when they were little. He always made them feel special.
I am sorry that we cannot be with you for Doug's funeral, but our nephew died unexpectably and is being buried at the same time.
We send your whole family our blessings and love. Pat and Rick

It was with great sorrow that I read of the passing of Doug. We certainly are going to miss his "In Flanders Fields" at the Remembrance Day Services.
It was always fun working with Doug at SFDCI where he made everyone toe the line.
He will be sadly missed in the community. My deepest sympathy to all of the family.
May he rest in peace.

"Mr.Kilpatrick" interviewed me in 1989 for a teaching job at Carleton Place High School (in my forties with teaching experience in Quebec and England). He was an impressive man, respected by students and teachers. I appreciated his "old world manners" and obvious knowledge and control of the school. After he retired, he happened to spot a copy of the CPHS yearbook at the Smiths Falls bookbinders and wrote a note congratulating me on the production. We also enjoyed seeing Ann and Doug at the September lunch for retired teachers at the Appleton golf club. They were such an elegant couple. We will miss seeing them this year.
