Obituary of Shirley Florence Crossman
Shirley Florence Crossman (Burke) of Smiths Falls, passed away peacefully on June 30th at the Broadview Nursing Center in her 80th year. Born in Sackville NB, Shirley was predeceased by her parents Ted and Eunice Burke and infant son Barry.
Shirley was a cherished full time mother to her children. In their teenage years, she returned to her career on a part time basis in 1978 at the Sackville Tribune. In 2004 Shirley and her husband Bob moved to Smiths Falls to be closer to their children and three grandchildren.
Shirley will be fondly remembered for her great wit and beautiful smile. A cherished, mother, wife, sister and grandmother who will be immensely missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Robert Byron (Bob) Crossman of 57 years, her sister Joan (Nelson) Kierstead, son Ian Robert (Sharon) Crossman, daughter Janet Heather (Brock) Kalef, and her 3 grandchildren Megan Kalef, Ethan Kalef, and Rowan Crossman.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 6th from 7pm – 9pm and Friday July 7th from 1 pm - 2 pm at the Lannin Funeral Home, 32 Main Street East, Smiths Falls Ontario, followed by a memorial service at 2 pm. A reception will follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 95. Donations on Shirley's behalf can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
