Grandpa at Gloria and Evan's wedding. I remember in the middle of the excitement after the beautiful ceremony and we arrived at the hall. As we got ready and in our places to start dinner, he came to me and said: Sara, can I say the Grace. It was so emotional as I had lost my dad only a couple of years earlier, but we had Grandpa John in his stead, leading the family celebration. That's how I will remember him, leading the Starks. He's now in a better place with Mary Alice.

Dear Ken and Brenda, and the entire Starks family:
To have a loved one depart is hard to bear.
But perhaps this will bring you some small measure of comfort: It is a fact that everything that Mr. Starks was - his very DNA, his life-energy - is part of you, his family. And each of you carries that forward. So, in a very real sense, he is not gone but will be with you and yours for generations to come.
I know that you will carry his spirit proudly and well.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and those of the Hanrahan family.
J.J. Hanrahan

To John's Family: My thoughts & prayers are with you at this difficult time in the loss of your beloved father. I had the privilege of meeting John at Rosebridge Manor, where my mother was a resident. He always made me smile when we had a quick chat. Keep your memories close. R.I.P. John

I met John by way of my Grandma being a resident at Rosebridge. From my very first words with him, I was captivated and knew that he would remain one of my favourite people.
I cannot express how much he impacted my life. His infectious smile, his stories and his charming personality will forever remain in my mind and heart. Learning of his passing has saddend me greatly.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to your family during this time.

TO: John's Family,
Real SORRY to hear about John. I considered him a very good friend and buddy. John was a good man and tried to live and do the right thing. I lived in Smiths Falls before moving to London, ON. I went to a few aa and Reform Party meetings with John. I always enjoyed my time with John and Mary Alice.
I hope he gets a good send-off and I believe I will see him again in Heaven. Good Bye for now John.

I am a volunteer at Rosebridge on Thursdays. I got to know and spent time with him every week We would look at books of Canadian forces planes and he would tell me about his time in Germany. I always picked up Black coffee from the kitchen before going down to his room. Our routine was usually that I would clean his glasses and he would drink his coffee while we visited. If he was having a bad day he would ask me to leave . He was so proud of his time in the service. When he couldn't remember something he would always say well you know, you were there" and I would agree. I will miss our visits and feel that i have lost a friend. My deepest sympathy in your time of loss.
Lynne Hurd volunteer.
