Dear Judy, Jessica, Sydney and Logan.
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Ralph, he always had a big smile on his face whenever I saw him growing up and an infectious deep laugh.
I hope you guys can find strength and support from one another, and know that I'm certain my mom is looking down on all of you guys as well. She never stopped talking about "her girls" and how much you guys meant to her.
Remember the good times,
Simon

It’s with heavy hearts we learn of the loss of Ralph, there are no words that can make this any less painful. One thing for sure, there will be fewer smiles and fewer laughs as a result of the loss of Rufus. If there is any way to help get through this, it has to be to hold onto the memories of the smiles and the laughs, hold onto the memories of the times we were fortunate enough to share with Ralph over the years. Yeah, they will forever be happy memories, although to few and to far between. When I think back of the good times we shared when Ralph first came to Ontario and stayed at our house; I can still see that smile come over his face as he appeared to be holding in a laugh. He was, you see it was like he had just rehearsed a joke he was about to tell and he was fighting back the laugh. He would then tell the joke aloud and a laugh would be had by all. That was what Ralph could always be counted on to do,...make it a better time and everyone enjoyed when he was around. The simplest of things could put a smile on his face and he was sure to be the reasone for the smiles on the faces of everyone else. Ralph is and will continue to be greatly missed. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to everyone in the family and all of Ralph’s friends. If we hold on to the memories Ralph left us all with, we will be better people thanks to him! Ralph we hope you are at rest and at piece, you are and will continue to be missed.
Your cousin Robert and Family

Judy,Jessica,Sydney and to all Ralph's family ,
Words can't express the overwhelming sadness we felt today when we received the news of Ralph's passing. Our hearts go out to you all. It was many years ago we too had our first of many coffees with Rufus at Penny's kitchen table. He was a kind soul who always seemed happiest when he was teasing someone He spent many hours with Thomas and Fletcher whom both loved him dearly. I remember when you started dating ....He was so happy....and when he came to help in the barn after Penny passed he was so proud of you all and loved you so much. We are lucky and honoured to have had him in our lives. Take time to reflect and be good to yourselves.
Love Thomas, Fletcher,Patricia,Keith and Rick.

Dear Judy Jessica and Sydney and family
I am so sorry to hear and my heart goes out to each of you. May the times and memories you have keep him a live forever in your hearts and help with your healing
It was sad to hear of Ralph's (Rufus) pasting but shortly after I said a prayer wishing him a safe journey to heaven.
Ralph was so easy going and the photo that you posted shows the smile he wore so often. I remember when he first came to Toronto he spent time with me and I taught him how to play backgammon.
He had so much patience and that was proof when he shared his experience of the "road trip from hell" when he went back to Nova Scotia for Uncle Bernie's funeral along with my mom, Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Michael.
My dad, Uncle Frank and Ralph bonded instantly as they shared their interest in horses. These are the memories I will keep and treasure and God bless Ralph.
Love his cousin, Connie

Will always remember his great Cape Breton friendliness. I remember one time over 30 years ago on one of his return trip from Cape Breton he brought me a can of Moosehead beer and a Cape Breton passport and laughed that we couldn’t make fun of down homers because now I was one also.
Great guy and great sense of humour gone way to soon.
Rest In Peace old friend.

To the entire Carroll Family
Sending prayers and heartfelt condolences to you all at this time.
Ralph or "Rufus" as we all at the track called him was just a
fun loving guy who enjoyed a good laugh, a good game of shinny
and a good racehorse of which if I can remember, he had a few of
those too.
He will be sadly missed by all the horsemen who knew him.
Sincerely,
Doug Bishop
