Harper, Wilbert "Bert" Stacey It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilbert "Bert" Stacey Harper, on Thursday, November 18, 2021, in his 89th year, peacefully at the Smiths Falls Hospital with his family by his side. He leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Betty, his children Doug (Christine) Harper, Debbie (Roger) Sabourin, and Tracey Harper. Loving Grandpa to Megan and Emily Harper, and Alisha, Matthew and Taylor Sabourin. Bert will be sadly missed by his sister-in-laws Francis and Nora Harper, Ann Stanzel, brother-in-law Alfred Coyle and Don (Phyllis) Stanzel and Dennis Wright. Bert will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. Bert was predeceased by his parents Harold and Mary Harper, his brothers Bob, Keith, Ken and Ray Harper, sister Jean Coyle, and sister-in-laws Bonnie Harper and Jean Wright along with brother-in-laws Bob and Richie Stanzel. Bert was first and foremost an amazing husband, dad, grandpa and friend. He loved to travel as long as it was on the ground, no heights. He was an avid gardener and self taught carpenter. But classic country music was his passion. Bert played lead guitar with many bands over the years at many different venues throughout the area. He loved being a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association playing alongside his friends. Bert's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Smiths Falls Hospital for their amazing care over his final days. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Lannin Funeral Home on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and again from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the Trinity United Church, Smiths Falls, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Perth & Smiths Falls Hospital Foundation or Tayside Community Option - Deakin House would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home.
