Uncle Ron, It's been a month since you've passed, and I still cannot type this with dry eyes. You were a wonderful soul that was truly special to so many people. I will be eternally grateful that your generosity, thoughtfulness (and even your quirky sense of humour) were such a big part of my life. You have left us with so many great memories that I hope will comfort us through the years ahead. I will always think of you when I see an old western on tv, make a good bowl of popcorn, pass by a golf course or a cop at a speed trap. You always had a good story to tell and would bring a smile to everyone's face. I appreciate our relationship, both as an uncle and niece growing up and then friends after I got married. It was then that you began to share more of your "Cracky" stories and I could tell why they had been censored all those years! Your memorial had an amazing turnout that I'm sure no one was surprised to see. You were so special to so many people and I am honored to be one of them. I love you always! Becki

Ron and I were friends at Wilma and Merv's cottage on the Rideau in the 1960's. I well remember our trips to Rideau Ferry for the dances at the old Inn. Always laughs. We lost touch over the years but I will always remember the good times the gang of us had at the lake. Judging by the comments here, he shared those laughs and good times with many.

My Dad. What to say about a man that gave me more than I could ever give him. Whenever and wherever I needed him he was there for me. In the worst times and the best, I knew I could always count on him for anything I needed. Whether just some assistance or some advice he was always willing to help even if it meant that it would leave him broke or broken hearted. He saw me at my worst and I saw him at his, yet still, at end he sat me down and asked "are you going to be alright" even when he and I knew he had no more to give me. I have never met or known a more selfless man and can only strive to be half the man he was. We all held you as you took your last breath and I couldn't help but feel lost. Like someone pulled my safety net and I have to rely on myself from here on out. I will keep the lessons you taught me of loyalty, courage, strength, forgiveness and selflessness forever and pass these traits onto "the girls" for that is the legacy you have left for me. Forever I will be Cracky's son, Little Crack.

Very sorry to hear of Ron's passing. A lot of us grew up on Roosevelt Drive and were friends for life. We used to drive around in Ron's car and he was always making us laugh. Ron was supposed to be in our wedding party in 1975 but regretfully informed us that he could not because he was also getting married that same weekend. Our friends had a 2 for 1 when they had "Cracky & Berf's Stagg". Never a dull moment when Ron was around. He will be missed.

No one ever has the perfect words and no same words work from one person to the next. For two days I've been trying to figure out what to say but I still have no idea. My heart is broken. You were one of the kindest men I have ever had the chance to know. When I moved into the house next door you walked right on in to my life and stayed put. You were always willing to give me a hand whether it be in the garage, out in the back yard or even just coming with a cold Pepsi (diet for you) and making me take a break. You opened your doors and arms for me whenever I needed it. You have no idea how special you are to me, Ron. I know your love will live on in Anne, TJ, Raya and Nina. I will miss you so much. Xo

My sympathy to you and your family. I was remembering when you lived in the Manse in Franktown and how kind Ron was to take my son Curtis to Arnprior and drop him off at hockey school, on his way to work. I'm sure you will have many happy memories of your life together. I shall remember you and your family in my prayers.

Kim McKenna and David Johnston Ron was a close friend to Kim and Me. He was the type of person who would do anything for his friends and family. I had some fondly remembered times with Ron, often in the form of road trips where he regailed me with momories of the past and present. Ron could change the atmosphere of a room by simply entering and saying 'giday' to all who were there. I had many heart-to-heart conversations with him, stopping. of course, for a' bite' to eat at a place he knew served really good food. He loved family, friends, golfing with his buddies, and of course a good bite to eat. You will be fondly but sadly missed...

Sincere and heartfelt sympathies to Anne, TJ, Diane & Gib Hannah (who lost not only a brother, but a good friend), precious grandgirls, Raya and Nina. Ron leaves so many good memories for all of us. Especially his love of life - family - friends and golf. Ron always had a smile and a wave and yes, a good comeback with jokes. Know Ron, that you will be missed by so many whose lives you touched. No more restrictions for you. Enjoy those golf games in Heaven. Give my Tom & Tim a hug and say hi to your Mom for me. Hugs my first & last, date for the formal. You leave us great memories.
