To Jessica and family: My deepest sympathy on the loss of your Nan. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of riding out to meet your Nan. We rode all over the place in all kinds of weather. Once, when I went through the ice will trying to lead my horse across a frozen stream, she had to loan me her socks so my feed wouldn't freeze before we got home. Apparently, the horse was smarter than I was. Another time, we couldn't meet on the 6th line because the snow was so deep that she couldn't get through from her end. Lots of lovely memories... She helped shape my childhood and the woman that I've become. Remember to focus on the good memories. They will last a life time. Kathy Makinson

I remember going up with Aunt Marilyn, Granny, Mom and Dad to visit you and Gordon many times, and as Wade, learning about the different life on a farm. I am finding myself remembering all those times more frequently now and learning to appreciate the wisdom of the words "Enjoy each day , Life goes to fast.". You were a fantastic lady and deserve the best. Rest in peace Love Todd

Ir would be the last day of school, June 23, 1964, I was 12 years old and just graduated from grade 8. But that was not the exciting event to which I looked forward to! It was the plans that were made for my summer before high school - A summer of new adventures working on Uncle Gordon and Aunt Theresas farm in Beckwith township on the Derry Rd. I had visited the farm many times but this would be different I would be boarding there for the summer and learning what farm life was like when farming was mostly labour intensive. The only thing left to do was get home from school and finish packing then wait for Aunt Terri to finish work at Post Office Headquarters on Heron Rd and come to pick me up. We developed a close bond {Im sure she felt responsible for this young city kid who was about to enter another world from the one he knew growing up in row housing in Ottawa} as She took me under her wing and for the first 2 summers she kept a close eye on me and made sure Uncle Gordon didnt put me in any dangerous situations {hard to do when every aspect of 1960s farming had a certain element of danger to it} . She tried to teach me to ride her horses during our down time but I soon learned after being knocked out of the saddle many times that I was not to be the equestrian sensation of the year and after giving Aunt Terri quite a few laughs I retired from pursuing a career with horses. I must say though that her attempts at teaching me how to drive during my 3rd summer were much more successful. She had a green and white Metropolitan which she used for commuting to work in Ottawa and she would take me down the country side roads constantly telling me not to get too close to the edge as the soft gravel would pull me into the ditch as I excitedly would grind the gears from 1st to 2nd then 3rd. She took a chance as I could very well have damaged her little car and she would have no transportation to work. But that was my Aunt - she was devoted to helping me learn, grow and succeed and for that I could never thank her enough. We had many adventures together and would reminisce about them whenever we would get together right up to earlier this year when I visited with her. Ironically in my retirement I found myself driving for Lanark Transportation and would be called upon to take residents from nursing homes on day outings. On 2 such occasions I was surprised to find the residents were from Stoneridge Manor in Carleton Place and the my Aunt Theresa was one of the lucky ones going out for the day. I would load her wheelchair into the van and whisper to her that I will try to stay away from the edge of the road. She would reply "you better". I enjoyed 5 summers on the farm and many winter weekends helping in the bush - Hardest work a boy of my age could ever have imagined but with the Love and guidance of this amazing woman I wouldnt have traded this chapter of my life for any other form of teenage years. To this end I say Thank You for helping me in my young and growing years My Dear Aunt Theresa and may you find the peace and serenity you so deserve after a long life of hard work and sacrifice - AMEN!!! Love Wade
